 Sam Smookler, President & CEO (co-founder)

Sam Smookler, co-founder of E-Band Communications Corp., has over 30 years of proven leadership in technology businesses, most recently as CEO of P-Com, Inc and shortly before that as CEO of DMC Stratex (NASDAQ: STXN), an industry leader in medium and high capacity point to point wireless transmission systems. He has international experience managing new product development, operations, sales channels and customer relations and has dealt with the financial and investment communities. While at DMC Stratex, Smookler led the development and introduction of the industry's first 155Mbps wireless access and backhaul product combining ultra-high capacity, high bandwidth efficiency and fiber-level performance in a single radio platform. Previously Mr. Smookler served as president and COO of Signal Technology Corp., Danvers, MA, vice president and general manager of the Interconnection Productions Division of Augat Corp., North Attleboro, MA, and vice president and general manager of the RF Components and Millimeter Wave Systems group for M/A COM Corp., Lowell, MA. His career has included senior management positions in product management, marketing, sales and engineering. He holds an engineering degree from C.W. Post College, Long Island University.

 

 

 Saul Umbrasas, Senior Vice President (co-founder)

Saul Umbrasas is a co-founder of E-Band Communications Corp., Chief Marketing Officer and VP of Business Development. Saul is responsible for product management, marketing, sales, business development and customer support activities at E-Band. 18 years experience in telecommunications industry in both service and infrastructure fields. Formerly Executive and Senior Management positions at AirFiber, BellSouth, Braxton Associates/Delloite & Touche, Cambridge Strategic Mgmt Group (CSMG). Saul holds BS degree in physics and an M.B.A.

 

 

 Andrew Pavelchek, Vice President of Engineering

Andrew has over 28 years experience in the field of communication systems. He co-founded AirFiber, a broadband wireless optical equipment manufacturer and has managed firmware and hardware development teams. Andrew has done modem and systems development at Linkabit Corporation and Primary Access (which was acquired by 3Com). He has a Masters Degree in Information Science from the University of California, San Diego and a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

 

 Elsbeth Kahn, Vice President of Operations

Beth joined EBCC in November 2007 as Vice President, Operations.  She brings senior leadership breadth and depth to the team having held key positions in operations, engineering, marketing, and sales, the last 8 years of which have been in wireless products and networking.  As an officer and leader of the P-Com License Exempt line of wireless mesh routers she was responsible for worldwide sales and marketing, re-establishing critical channel partners and launching new products.  Prior to joining P-Com Beth was COO at ANI, a technical and sales skills training company specializing in Cisco products.  Before that she was Vice President and General Manger at Stratex Networks responsible for the $260M microwave radio division in San Jose consisting of three product lines from 6 to 38 GHz with data rates up to 155Mbs.

Beth worked at Lucent Technologies for many years beginning her career with Bell Laboratories supporting digital radio, secure telephony and multi-chip module products where she lead a 350 person operations and engineering team.  She has a Master's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Idaho.

  

 

Russ Kinsch, CFO

Russ Kinsch has more than 30 years' experience in financial management, strategic planning, business advisory, mergers and acquisitions, and successful startup company implementation. Prior to joining the Eband team, Mr. Kinsch was instrumental in the formation of Automated Power Exchange (APX), a privately owned company which has become the business leader for emerging environmental commodities, including greenhouse gases and energy efficiency certificates. Prior to joining APX, Mr. Kinsch was the Chief Financial Officer of SSE Telecom, a designer and manufacturer of satellite communications products and system to the transmission of voice, data, fax and video. 

Mr. Kinsch spent 17 years at TRW where he held numerous positions of increasing responsibility, including Vice President of Finance for the Avionics and Surveillance Group. In that capacity, Mr. Kinsch managed various functional areas including contracts, information systems, facilities, procurement, cost accounting, financial reporting, treasury, and taxes. Mr. Kinsch managed the spin-out of an elegant anti-phone cloning system into Corsair Communications, a company formed by a group of venture investors led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
